Donna loves animals and other forms of wildlife, particularly birds. Born in Guelph, Ontario, she grew up assisting her veterinarian dad in a rural farm practice and later in his small animal clinic. She developed a talent for drawing his ‘patients’! In 1974 Donna and her husband, Ellis, moved to the family’s 50 acre farm in Schomberg, Ontario. She taught high school Computer Science for 30 years. After retiring from her teaching career, Donna began painting what she grew in the garden in precise watercolour botanicals, progressing to bird subjects; she especially loved painting her own cows, dogs, cats, and fowl. For the most part she prefers “portraits”, close up head shots in a realistic style. She now paints in oils.
