The Shannon Phair Visual Art Award

Funds to create The Shannon Phair Award have been gifted to the Newmarket Group of Artists in memory of mixed media artist Shannon Phair with the hope to inspire and support emerging Newmarket visual artists.  


One graduating student attending a Newmarket high school will be selected from the nominations received.  The $500 award is to be used for post-secondary education.

• Each Newmarket high school can put forward the names of 2 students (nominees) for consideration. Nominators must be YRDSB or YCDSB high school educators.
• Nominees should be in their last year of high school with plans to pursue post-secondary education in the visual arts*.
• Nominees will be judged on their skill and creativity.
• Deadline for nominations is May 20th. Schools will be notified of the award winner by May 31st. 
• The award will be presented to the successful nominee by the student's high school.

*Visual arts include: mixed media, painting, drawing, sculpture, illustration, ceramics, photography, graphic design, textile design
