The Shannon Phair Arts Award
Shannon Phair was a visual artist and beautiful soul.
She studied Art History and Visual Art at the University of Toronto and at the University of Windsor. During her life, Shannon's art was exhibited throughout Ontario. Her printmaking was also part of a tour that travelled throughout Canada. She was a true advocate for the value of art and artists in our society. Much of her work centred around memory, its connection to people and places, geology, and ecology. Through her art, Shannon's indelible spirit lives on. Funds to create The Shannon Phair Award have been gifted to the Newmarket Group of Artists in memory of mixed media artist Shannon Phair with the hope to inspire and support emerging Newmarket visual artists.
One graduating student attending a Newmarket high school will be selected from the nominations received. The $500 award is to be used for post-secondary education. |
